Transportation & Health

As a member of the Mississauga Cycling Advisory Committee, I have seen the ambitious plans that the city envisions for alternative transportation in the future. Within ten to fifteen years, hundreds of kilometres of new cycling facilities will be built.

Accessible and connected pedestrian and cycling networks will allow more children to walk or bike to school, meaning less traffic congestion during drop-off periods, as well as increased health and activity opportunities for our kids. This is especially important considering the obesity issues growing numbers of children today face.

The Peel Board has an important role to play in developing and implementing plans to take advantage of these opportunities, and I can bring considerable experience on this issue to the table.
